A Ray, a Seahawk and a Foxy Fox

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2021 Bowman - Chrome Prospects # BCP-134 featuring Shane Baz of the Tampa Bay Rays.

I guess Baz is one of about 93 pitchers the Rays have had on the DL in the last couple of years. At least Topps got this right for a Bowman card, he was a legit prospect. He actually made his MLB debut in 2021, including starting a postseason game. Then came the arm injuries. He's made in back mid summer this year and seems OK so far. But man does the sport need to figure out ways to stop 22 year old pitchers blowing their arms out.

I currently have catalogued in my collection 7 Baz cards and 283 Tampa Bay Rays cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2020 Score - First Score insert #FS-DK featuring D.K. Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks.

I'm not really too much of a football fan, I follow it the least of the 4 major North American sports, and truthfully follow NCAA closer than NFL, but if I can be said to support a team, it would be the Seahawks. So if someone is going to stick a Metcalf relic, even if player worn in their dollar box, I'll part with a loony for it.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

  • Boston Red Sox player # 136 - Kristian Campbell
  • Cincinnati Reds player # 150 - Hunter Hollan
  • Toronto Blue Jays player # 305 - Billy McKinney
  • Washington Nationals player # 87 - MacKenzie Gore
  • Denver Nuggets player # 34 - Christian Braun
  • Denver Broncos player # 64 - Quinton Carter
  • Houston Texans player # 44 - Brandon Harris
  • Jacksonville Jaguars player # 59 - Andre Branch
  • New York Giants player # 60 - David Wilson
  • San Diego Chargers player # 35 - Corey Liuget
  • Tennessee Titans player # 45 - Jamie Harper
  • UCLA Bruins (football) player # 2 - Joseph Fauria
  • Calgary Flames player # 152 - Corban Knight
  • Canada (hockey) player # 149 - Patrice Cormier
  • Canada (hockey) player # 150 - Lawson Crouse
  • Canada (hockey) player # 151 - John Quenneville
  • Canada (hockey) player # 152 - Nicolas Roy
  • Chicago Wolves player # 19 - Kari Lehtonen
  • Dallas Stars player # 114 - Jack Campbell
  • Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds player # 6 - Lee Cole
  • Toronto Maple Leafs player # 333 - Ron Francis
  • 1. FC Koln player # 4 - Ellyes Skhiri
  • Aston Villa player # 2 - Emiliano Martinez
  • Chelsea FC player # 9 - Andreas Christensen
  • Club Brugge KV player # 4 - Abdoluay Diaby
  • Eintracht Frankfurt player # 3 - Christopher Lenz
  • Everton player # 5 - Fabian Delph
  • FC Bayern Munchen player # 12 - Alphonso Davies
  • Fulham player # 1 - Dennis Odoi
  • Toronto FC player # 3 - Alejandro Pozuelo
  • VfL Wolfsburg player # 8 - Max Kruse

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,076 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from the United Kingdom featuring a Red Fox.

The UK is one of a few nations whose post office tends to release postcards of their stamps. So the postcard is basically a larger format photo of the stamp, typically works with you buy the postcard for the value of the stamp and the postage is included. Canada does the same thing, only we call them pre-paid cards. This card is unwritten and bought as part of a set of 10. Likely somewhere in the UK, but I don't recall exactly where I bought it.

I currently have 224 postcards from the United Kingdom catalogued in my collection.

Rest well Johnny and Matthew

I pulled the scheduled post for today when I woke up to the news. Thoughts to all the friends, families, teammates impacted by this awful event.

Too many stupid selfish people in the world doing things hurting other people in the world these days.

A Jaguar, a Pirate and a Way for Swedes to get Cheap(er) alcohol

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2021 Panini Chronicles Football #50 featuring Travis Etienne of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It's a rookie card of a first round pick who has turned into a pretty decent player, so I guess I should be excited about it. However, I'm not. Maybe if Panini didn't release 33 different NFL sets that year assuming I counted correctly, which is only the Panini branded ones, not counting Donruss, Score, Zenith etc.

I currently have 5 Etienne cards catalogued in my collection and 159 Jacksonville Jaguars cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2022 Topps Stadium Club - Black Foil parallel #205 featuring Roansy Contreras of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Just a typical quality Stadium Club effort. The Bucs are one of 2 MLB teams I would sort of say I am a team collector of, but not to the same focus as the Jays. Like many, I'm a fan of Stadium Club, just wish it was easier to find locally, there doesn't seem to be much of it around at local shows etc.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were none.

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,040 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Sweden showing the Oresundsbron bridge.

The bridge which is both a rail and road bridge links Malmo in Sweden to Copenhagen in Denmark. The brige section is 8km long while the tunnel is 4km. The switchover point is a manmade island. Cute story, there was a natural island about 1km away called Saltholm. So what did they name the artificial island - Peberholm. Who says Scandinavians are all serious and have no sense of humour?

You can get cards of the bridge in either nation, but this one is Swedish. It is unwritten and I bought it in Malmo. I currently have 90 postcards from Sweden catalogued in my collection.

An Ugly Sweater, a Classic Sweater and a Really Big Bellyflop

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2003 Upper Deck #438 featuring Peter Bondra of the Washington Capitals.

Nice card design, another truly awful jersey. Bondra was a better player (if kind of one-dimensional) than you likely remember. I'm guessing if someone asked you to list off the members of the 500 goal club, his name would not come to mind, but he's a member.

I currently own 20 Bondra cards and 767 Washington Capitals cards

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2000 Pacific Private Stock #53 featuring Jose Theodore of the Montreal Canadiens. Figure if Random.org is gonna hit me with an ugly sweater, I will balance it with a classic. Wrong team of course, but you've gotta respect the classic threads.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

  • Chicago Cubs player #136 - Trey Mancini
  • Chicago Cubs player #137 - Harold Ramirez
  • Cleveland Indians player #116 - Domingo Santana
  • Pittsburgh Pirates player #182 - Endy Rodriguez
  • San Francisco Giants player #129 - Grant McCray
  • Tampa Bay Rays player #89 - Kyle Manzardo
  • Arizona Coyotes player #71 - Justin Hodgman
  • Philadelphia Flyers player #162 - Pierre-Edouard Bellemare
  • Toronto Maple Leafs player #331 - Brandon Kozun

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,040 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Australia featuring a breeching Humpback Whale.

This card is written and was received through a swap on an online postcard exchange forum. I currently have 30 postcards from Australia catalogued in my collection.

A Met, A Hidden Classic of Hockey Hair and a Moose

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2017 Topps #19 featuring David Wright of the New York Mets.

Quite possibly one of the ugliest sets Topps has ever produced. Wright strikes me as a guy who pulled off the hard to achieve feat of being both underappreciated and overrated at the same time. It would have been interesting to see what kind of career he could have put up without the injuries.

I currently own 7 Wright cards and 472 New York Mets cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 1990 Topps #204 featuring Daren Puppa of the Buffalo Sabres.

Yesterday I said give me the classic Blue and Gold, so I figured I'd go with one today. Double points for it being an error since his name is incorrectly spelled. Triple points since Puppa generally rocked the best mullet in hockey goalie history. It was a solid 8 out of 10 on the Jagr scale.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were none.

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,030. Seem to have gone down 1 in the ongoing database cleanup.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Lithuania featuring a Moose.

I have a mini collection of Moose on postcards, not surprising since wild animals is one of the themes I collect. This car is written and was received through an exchange on an online postcard swap forum. I currently have 16 postcards from Lithuania catalogued in my collection.

A Ranger, A Canadian Heart-breaker and a Sweet Way to Sell Chocolate

Back after 2 days away on the weekend.

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 1999 Topps Gold Label #14 featuring Theoren Fleury of the New York Rangers.

Have to admit was never the biggest Fleury fan, but he was certainly a very good player and you have to respect his making it to such a career given his size and some of the things in his background. What he's done after his career is certainly worthy of all the praise you can send his way.

I currently own 16 Fleury cards and 896 New York Rangers cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 1999 Upper Deck Black Diamond #11 featuring Dominik Hasek of the Buffalo Sabres.

Figure I will stick in the same year and go with a card of the best goaltender in my lifetime. Just wish it wasn't from that stretch of horrible uniforms the Sabres went through. Give me the classic Blue and Gold. I guess the good news is it isn't the Buffaslug.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were just 1:

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,031 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from France depicting an old time German (assuming based on the language) advertisement for cocoa.

The card is French, showing a German ad and was bought in a shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. Old timey advertisements is a theme fairly common on postcards and one I would certainly like to get more of into my collection. I currently have 109 postcards from France catalogued in  my collection.

A Tiger, a Punching Bag and a Pokey Tree

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2009 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects #BDP19 featuring Ryan Perry of the Detroit Tigers.

I don't remember Perry at all, maybe I need to brush up on my early 2010's middle relievers, but hey unlike a good chunk of the guys in these Bowman sets, he got to the Big Leagues. Appeared in 156 games over 4 years. No starts, 2 saves, 43 games finished which suggests he was the 'this game is a blowout, so put him in' guy for those teams.

I currently own 1 Perry card and 324 Detroit Tigers cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 1996 Pinnacle Summit - Premium Stock parallel #100 featuring Ron Hextall of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Why, not because I'm a Hextall fan, but because whenever I'm feeling down, I just call up the YouTube video of Felix Potvin beating him so bad his ears didn't stop ringing for a month and suddenly I have a smile on my face.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were none.

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,030 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Arizona, USA

Fun fact, there are 9 rattlesnakes in this photo. This card is written and was received in an exchange on an online postcard exchange forum. Currently I have 340 postcards from the United States catalogued.

2024-08-22

A Guy Selling Sandwiches, an Oriole and the source of Strawberry Milk

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2014 Press Pass American Thunder #17 featuring Kevin Harvick.

So for the first time Random.org takes us outside the North American Big 4. I don't really collect or follow NASCAR, but someone was selling a really cheap lot of it online locally, and I said 'what the heck, I didn't need that shelf space anyways' and picked it up. Surprised there's no advertising on his forehead, that seems to be one of the biggest spaces of real estate available.

Apparently Harvick was a favourite of whoever put the lot together as it had 39 of his cards which makes up the entirety of my collection of his.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2024 Topps Heritage - White Border parallel #24 featuring Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles.

Just a generally clean looking card. Based on the asking price for the 1 I see on COMC, and the box I found it in, I'm guessing the dealer didn't recognize it for what it was (truthfully neither did I). I guess one of the hazards of being a dealer is having to recognize all the short prints, rare parallels etc.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,030 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Switzerland.

Bog standard tourist stuff here. In fact I think I may have bought this at the Zurich airport, it's unwritten and I know I bought it. I currently have 84 postcards from Switzerland catalogued in my collection.

2024-08-21

A Spirit, a Whaler and a UNESCO Heritage Site

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2012 In the Game Between the Pipes #62 featuring Jake Paterson of the Saginaw Spirit.

I don't remember Paterson at all. Looking him up, he apparently was on a Team Canada for a World Juniors, but he must have been the backup as I have no memory of him. And now knowing that I need to track down his Team Canada Card. Paterson never made the NHL, in fact he barely made the AHL getting into 10 games over 3 years. He spent most of his time in the ECHL. Last look, he was playing in Slovakia.

I currently own 1 Paterson card and 14 Saginaw Spirit cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 1990 Upper Deck Hockey #541 featuring Daryl Reaugh of the Hartford Whalers.

Why? Because it's a chance to feature one of the best jerseys in sports history.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were none.

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,028 combinations. It seems to have changed even though I didn't catalog any cards. Need to dig into my database and see why, likely due to cleanup on multiplayer cards which I don't count.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Turzansk, Poland featuring the St. Michael the Archangel church.

The church is on the UNESCO World Heritage site as part of a grouping of wooded churches or Tserkva in southern Poland and western Ukraine. This particular church belongs to the Polish Orthodox Church, not the Catholic Church. This postcard is unwritten and was received through an exchange on an online postcard exchange group. Churches represent the largest thematic collection I have for cards. I currently have 105 catalogued cards from Poland in my collection.

2024-08-20

A North Star, a Yankee and a Tourist Trap

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2023 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Legends #47 featuring Brian Bellows of the Minnesota North Stars.

Legend ? That might be pushing the definition a little bit. I mean he did score almost 500 goals and play in almost 1,200 games. But he's not in the Hall of Fame, and I don't really recall any outcry about his exclusion. Feels more like one of those guys who put up big numbers during the most offensive oriented era in NHL history.

I currently own 14 Bellows cards and 186 Minnesota North Stars cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2023 Bowman Draft #BD-30 featuring Roc Riggio of the New York Yankees.

No idea if Riggio is a legit prospect or not. Looking him up, he's a career .212 hitter after 2 minor league seasons. Likely just another guy in a Bowman set who never makes The Show. But it's cool to have a card of a guy named Roc Riggio.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

My All-time roster project now stands at

My random postcard of the day is this card from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada showing well, the Falls.

Niagara Falls is a short drive from where I live, so it's frankly not a big deal for me, no different than Big Ben for someone in London or the Eiffel Tower for a Paris resident etc. It is one of the few places where you can still easily buy postcards here even if they all are on the same theme. This card is unwritten, and I would have bought it there. I currently have 566 catalogued cards from Canada in my collection.

2024-08-19

A Canadian, a Blue Jay (who got away) and a Pretty Useless Map

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2017 Upper Deck Team Canada #44 featuring Sam Reinhart.

Reinhart has to be the least likely 57 goal scorer in the history of the NHL. Seriously, where did that come from. Can't say I watched many Panther games at all last year, not sure if he just got on an insane heater or what. Zach Hyman's 54 last year were slightly less surprising since he rides shotgun on the wing of the best player in the world.

I currently own 28 Reinhart cards and 407 Team Canada cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2022 Bowman Chrome - 2021 AFL Fall Stars insert #AFLS-14 featuring Gabriel Moreno of the Toronto Blue Jays

Why ? Because Toronto sports fans are destined to suffer.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were :

  • Bradenton Marauders player # 6 - Dariel Lopez
  • Brown Bears (baseball) player #1 - Olivia Pichardo
  • Cleveland Guardians player #12 - Gabriel Arias
  • Colorado Rockies player #114 - Nolan Jones
  • Milwaukee Brewers player #138 - Brian Anderson
  • Minnesota Twins player #152 - Josh Winder
  • New York Yankees player #174 - Jhony Brito
  • San Francisco Giants player #128 - Thairo Estrada
  • Seattle Mariners player #119 - Andres Munoz
  • Tampa Bay Rays player #88 - Ryan Pepiot
  • Charlotte Hornets player #32 - P.J. Hairston
  • Connecticut Huskies (basketball) player #1 - James Bouknight
  • Atlanta Falcons player #48 - Arnold Ebiketie
  • Buffalo Bills player #82 - Marquise Goodwin
  • Chicago Bears player #72 - Darnell Wright
  • Colorado Buffaloes (football) player #4 - Shedeur Sanders
  • Denver Broncos player #64 - Josey Jewell
  • Georgia Bulldogs (football) player #13 - Kelee Ringo
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (football) player #5 - Dontae Smith
  • Jacksonville Jaguars player #58 - Anton Harrison
  • Los Angeles Chargers player #20 - Mike Williams
  • Maryland Terrapins (football) player #6 - Roman Hemby
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers (football) player #3 - Tanner Morgan
  • Notre Dame Fighting Irish (football) player #5 - Javon McKinley
  • Oregon Ducks (football) player #3 - Bucky Irving
  • Penn St. Nittany Lions (football) player #10 - Dani Dennis-Sutton
  • Philadelphia Eagles player #64 - Carson Strong
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers player #70 - Kyle Trask
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers player #71 - Tristan Wirfs
  • Texas Longhorns (football) player #16 - Jaheel Billingsley
  • Toledo Rockets (football) player #1 - Kareem Hunt
  • Virginia Cavaliers (football) player #2 - Dontayvion Wicks
  • West Virginia Mountaineers (football) player #3 - CJ Donaldson Jr.
  • West Virginia Mountaineers (football) player #4 - Nicco Marchiol

No links to the cards today, more than half don't have an image on TCDB, and until I can find time to fire up the scanner, doesn't make sense trying to figure out which do and which don't.

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,243 combinations. The 2 new teams represented by a first card bring the unique number of teams to 953.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Mexico City, Mexico featuring a stylized map of the city centre.

This card is unwritten and was bought when I was on an extended work assignment living in Mexico City. I currently have 99 catalogued postcards from Mexico.

A Dodger, a Bruin and a Cathedral

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2011 Topps Allen & Ginter - Hometown Heroes insert #HH-37 featuring Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Have to admit, I'm not a fan at all of Allen & Ginter, to me it just seems like badly forced nostalgia. But Kershaw is one of only likely 2 or 3 baseball players whose cards I will always grab if they are reasonable which explains having this one.

I currently own 55 Kershaw cards and 588 Los Angeles Dodgers cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 1999 Topps Stadium Club Hockey - Goalie Cam insert #GC3 featuring Byron Dafoe of the Boston Bruins.

You don't really think of Stadium Club as hockey brand, but they had a good run for about a decade. This is an interesting card because it actually folds open to show a larger photo printed on the inside. Kind of a precursor to the booklets of today, only just photography, no relic or autograph.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,204 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Velehrad, Czechia featuring the Basilica of St. Cyrillus and Metodius.

So Random.org keeps us in Czechia for the 2nd consecutive day. The church is the most important Christian pilgrimage site in Czechia. This card is unwritten and was received through a swap on an online postcard exchange forum. I currently have 295 catalogued postcards from Czechia/Czechoslovakia.

2024-08-17

A Coyote, a Canuck and a Really Creepy Way to Spend Eternity

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2016 Upper Deck - UD Portraits #P-73 featuring Jacob Chychrun of the Arizona Coyotes.

I have no idea what to make of Chychrun as a player. Trying to figure out if defensemen on bad teams are the cause of them being a bad team, or a victim of being on a bad team is above my hockey IQ. If you want the answer to the question, ask a Buffalo Sabres fan, they should be experts at it by now.

I currently own 18 Chychrun cards and 293 Arizona Coyotes cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 1997 Upper Deck #375 featuring Kirk McLean of the Vancouver Canucks.

No special attachment to McLean, just thought it was an eye-catching card.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were none.

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,196 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from the Sedlec Abbey Ossuary in Kutna Hora, Czechia.

Yes, those are bones. The bones of an estimated 40 to 70,000 people are used for display in the church. The famous chandelier in the church contains one of every bone in the human body. This however is the coat of Arms of the Schwarzenberg who paid the the 19th century to 'organize' the church and its remains. This card is unwritten, and I bought it when visiting the church. I currently have 295 cards catalogued from Czechia/Czechoslovakia in my collection.

A Maple Leaf (legend), A Bruin (also a Leafs legend) and 2 Cranes (not Leaf Legends)

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 1993 Score Black's Toronto Maple Leafs Pop-ups #15 featuring Bill Berg.

I'd been trying to find a copy of this card for years, without success, I mean I'm guessing I'm the only person on TCDB with Berg listed as one of their favourite players. One time I saw the full set on offer, but for an outrageous price. Then I was doing a trade with another local TCDB member and saw they had it for offer, and very generously they sent it to me as a PIF. Shout out to the great TCDB community.

I currently own 18 Berg cards and 1,739 Toronto Maple Leafs cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2003 Topps C55 #43 featuring Felix Potvin of the Boston Bruins.

Why ? Because it's The Cat. Nuff said. Although Felix just doesn't look right in any uniform other than the Leafs. Vancouver, Los Angeles, the Islanders don't look right, but a Bruins uniform is especially jarring.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,19 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Malaysia (at least sent from there) featuring 2 Eurasian Cranes.

There is nothing on the card to indicate where it was printed. Despite being sent from there, it's unlikely it was actually produced in Malaysia as the species is not found there. The card is written and was received through a trade on an online postcard exchange forum. I currently have 23 postcards catalogued from Malaysia in my collection.

A Mariner, a Canadien/hat model and some Stained Glass

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2022 Topps #206 featuring Kyle Lewis of the Seattle Mariners.

Finally after a long run of hockey, Random.org pulls us a different sport. Lewis certainly had an interesting career path. From unanimous Rookie of the Year to out of professional baseball (for performance/talent reasons, not legal or otherwise) in less than 4 years. Modern day Joe Charbonneau as it were. Sorry to any Mariners fans reading this for the reminder.

I currently own 18 Lewis cards and 393 Seattle Mariners cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2006 Be a Player - Up Close and Personal insert UC11 featuring Cristobal Huet of the Montreal Canadiens.

Just for the general creepiness of it and making me wonder how many 1.50 meter, 130kg guys are using that photo on their online dating profile.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,192 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Paris showing Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Obviously this would have been produced before the 2019 fire that damaged much of the building. I believe the reconstruction work is close to complete with a reopening scheduled for December. This card is written and was received through an exchange on an online postcard forum. Currently I have 109 catalogued cards from France in my collection.

A Thunderbird, a Senator and a Place You've Never Heard of

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2021 Upper Deck AHL #25 featuring Sam Anas of the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Anas have never made it to the NHL. It seems likely that dream is over since at last look he is playing in Belarus now (yikes). This card would have been perfection had he been a member of the Anaheim Ducks organization, not the Blues. Birdwatchers will get that.

I currently own 1 Anas card and 12 Springfield Thunderbirds cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2007 Upper Deck Trilogy #69 featuring Ray Emery of the Ottawa Senators.

Emery's tale is a tragic one. He was from my hometown. He had a decent enough career, but sadly was found drowned in Lake Ontario a few years ago in a park where I at times take my dogs to walk.

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were:

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,178 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from Balti, Moldova featuring the St. Nicholas Church.

Apparently while an Orthodox church, much of the architecture borrows from Catholic churches. This card is both written and stamped and was received via a swap in an online postcard exchange forum. I currently have 10 postcards from Moldova catalogued.

A Devil, an Angel and a Boat

Random.org chose the following as my random card of the day. This 2019 Parkhurst #121 featuring Cory Schneider of the New Jersey Devils

I enjoyed Parkhurst as a set. Not quite as much as O-Pee-Chee, but the more simple approach is a reminder of what to me the hobby is about. Why Upper Deck needed to kill off an affordable set and turn it into a e-Pack only when they still release what seems like 25 high end sets I don't know. Well, I think I do know, but it sucks nonetheless.

I see Schneider is from Massachusetts, I'd have sworn he was Canadian, but I'm likely confusing him with Corey Hirsch.

I currently own 18 Schneider cards and 698 New Jersey Devils cards.

My favourite new card I added to my catalogue recently is this 2022 Topps x Bobby Witt Jr. Crown Collection - Green Rainbow #2 featuring Jo Adell of the Los Angeles Angels.

It feels like Adell has been a prospect for about a decade. It also feels like he's never going to establish himself. Why this card as a favourite, well, it's one of those cards that when you see it in the box, you think, what the heck is that from. And then you look it up on TCDB and wonder how in the world a card from a set like that ended up in a dollar box in southern Ontario. Plus, what better pairing for today with a Devil?

New additions to my all-time roster project catalogued yesterday were none. I continue to spend time working on other things, in particular enhancements to  my collection backup database.

My All-time roster project now stands at 15,176 combinations.

My random postcard of the day is this card from the United States showing a boat which seems a little past its best years.

There is no information on this card about the boat, if it is significant, the location of the photograph or anything. Perhaps it's just done as a postcard for the melancholy of the photo. This card is written and was received via a trade on an online postcard exchange forum. Currently I have 340 postcards from the United States catalogued.

A Viking, A Viking (SKOL!) and a Window to the Stars.
